What to Expect at Your First Session at SculptClub
Your first personal training session can be nerve-wracking. Maybe you’ve never worked with a trainer. Maybe you tried it once and the experience was disappointing. Or maybe you’ve been training for years and want to reach the next level. Whatever your background — your first session at SculptClub is different from what you expect.
This article walks you through every step, so you know exactly what you’re getting into.
Step 1: the intake — a real conversation
Before you touch a single weight, you talk with your trainer. This isn’t a sales pitch. It’s an introduction where the trainer wants to understand who you are, what your goals are and what your background is.
Expect questions about your training history, any injuries or physical limitations, your daily routine, stress levels and sleep quality. A good trainer looks at the whole picture, not just your bench press weight.
This conversation typically lasts 10-15 minutes and is part of your first session. You don’t need to prepare anything — just be honest. The more your trainer knows, the better the program.
Step 2: the physical assessment
After the conversation comes a brief physical assessment. This isn’t a fitness test where you get graded. It’s a way for your trainer to see how you move. Think squats, lunges, shoulder rotation, and maybe a plank.
The trainer looks at mobility, stability and movement patterns. Do you have a tight hip? Are you compensating with your lower back? Are your shoulders rolled forward? This assessment forms the foundation of your program and helps prevent injuries.
There’s no right or wrong. Everyone starts somewhere, and your trainer doesn’t judge.
Step 3: goal setting — concrete and realistic
Based on the conversation and assessment, your trainer sets concrete goals together with you. Not “I want to get fitter” but “I want to lose 5 kg in 12 weeks and train three times per week” or “I want to reduce my back pain and get stronger for my daily activities.”
Good goals are specific, measurable and time-bound. Your trainer helps you set realistic expectations — not too conservative, not unachievable.
What should you wear?
Comfortable workout clothes and clean athletic shoes. That’s it. You don’t need a specific brand or special gear. A towel is handy but not required — SculptClub has towels available.
Bring a water bottle. Don’t eat right before your session — a light meal 1-2 hours beforehand is ideal.
What does the rest of the session look like?
After the intake and assessment, you actually train. Your first workout isn’t designed to destroy you. The trainer wants to see how you respond to exercises, assess your technique and establish a baseline for future sessions.
A typical first session at SculptClub lasts 60 minutes and looks like this:
- 10-15 min: intake and assessment
- 5 min: warm-up
- 30-35 min: training (strength, mobility or a combination)
- 5-10 min: cool-down and debrief
The trainer explains every exercise, demonstrates proper technique and corrects where needed. You don’t need to do everything perfectly — that’s what the trainer is for.
No sales pressure, no commitments
At SculptClub, you work directly with your trainer. There’s no receptionist trying to sell you an annual membership. No high-pressure sales tactics. After your first session, you decide if you want to continue.
Our trainers work as independent professionals who set their own rates and manage their own client relationships. That means they’re focused on your results, not on hitting targets for a company.

Frequently asked questions about the first session
Do I need to be fit to start? Absolutely not. Our trainers work with all levels, from complete beginners to experienced athletes.
Can I cancel my first session? Yes, usually up to 24 hours in advance. Check the terms with your specific trainer.
What if I have an injury? Mention it during the intake. A good trainer adapts the program and works around your injury — or refers you to a physiotherapist if needed.
The first step is always the hardest. But at SculptClub, we make it as easy as possible.
